Washi, our traditional hand-made paper, was added to UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Three kinds of washi are included: Hosokawashi from Saitama, Honminoshi, Gifu and Sekishubanshi, Shimane.

The latest ordinary session of the Diet has decided to revise the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act. Three major revisions in status of residences follow:
1. “Highly Skilled Professional I & II” will be newly established to give current “Highly Skilled Foreign Professional” further convenience,
2. “Investor/Business Manager” will be simplified to “Business Manager”, including operation of/investment in businesses funded by Japanese nationals,
3. “Engineer” and “Specialist in Humanities/International Services” will be bound into one status.
